Departing the Cairns' coast, your Tour ascends the mighty Lamb Range providing panoramic views of the Mulgrave River Valley from Heale's Lookout. The high elevation Southern Tablelands rainforests are vastly different to coastal rainforest surrounding Cairns and supports a wide variety of wildlife, many being unique to the Tablelands.
Enjoy freshly baked scones and morning tea before boarding the first morning cruise on the calm waters of the volcanic crater Lake Barrine. View the Lake's abundant wildlife and marvel at the old growth World Heritage listed rainforest surrounding the lake whose deep jade green waters are filled by crystal clear rainwater. A short guided walk reveals the Twin Kauri Pine Trees, 1000 year old forest giants - amongst Australia's largest trees.
After a short journey our guide will escort you along boardwalks to the ancient Giant Curtain Fig Tree - an amazing accomplishment of nature! The surrounding forest is home to the shy Lumholtz's Tree Kangaroos.
We then commence our tour of the Waterfalls Circuit with worldfamous Millaa Millaa Falls (featured in many film productions), a brief refreshing swim in the cool waters is possible here. Our next stop is Tarzalli Lakes, a special private viewing spot, where we usually see the normally shy and elusive platypus in this natural lake setting.
Travel through rich dairying pastures to Mungalli Creek Dairy which is North Queensland's only certified organic dairy farm producing biodynamic dairy products - enjoy a cheese and yoghurt tasting. Upon arrival at Mungalli Falls enjoy an excellent two course lunch. Served outdoors in our own private gazebo, uniquely situated atop Mungalli Falls (the Tableland's tallest falls)
Descending the range, we stop at Crawford's Lookout for an amazing view of the North Johnstone Gorge. Arriving at Paronella Park you will be accompanied by the park's knowledgeable guide for a leisurely tour of the National Trust listed Heritage gardens and castle ruins. There is extended free time to view the museum and the remains of North Queensland's first hydro-electric plant on the beautiful Mena Creek - feed the fish and turtles below the falls.
Your tour concludes with a scenic drive home passing Mt Bellenden Ker and Mt Bartle Frere two of Queensland's highest mountains.
